Well, since everyone is back and there's no security threat I can say what I was doing in Kuwait but only to a certain extent. I can't exactly give out driving plans or military procedures. So meh to anyone looking for that.
Right. So a few months ago back in early August the higher-ups of 4th ID asked for volunteers to help push 4th ID soldiers out of Iraq. This didn't mean they'd be going into Iraq though but to Kuwait to help get equipment out and back home. Well I raised my hand because 1. for all those that stayed back here in my battallion they were gonna get crappy details for two months and 2. I get a little extra pay. So for a while we trained for the mission up until when we left in October. For a while we had nothing to do but sit in our tents and be bored. Occasionally someone would buy a new movie to watch on their laptop or the MWR (which is like a community center) would be playing a good movie. (Got to watch POTC 2 before it was out on DVD X3 ) Eventually equipment started coming in and half of us got put on washrack (which is like a car wash) and the other half at the port moving the stuff to where it needed to go after it was cleaned and brought to us.
This pretty much went on until we eventually got all of their crap out of there. Granted we had free time but most of it was spent sleeping since a lot of these shifts were twelve hours. We then left on the morning of the 18th of December and got back here to Ft. Hood in the evening because of the whole time differance thing (about ten hours).
So it was a relatively okay deployment and our mission was a success. As of right now I got the next two days off in order to get my stuff out of storage and tie up some errands before I report back for duty on the 21st. Then I get to go on leave for Christmas the next day. XD I'm going to end up driving however and I've got quite a distance to cover coming from Texas, to Virginia, Indiana, then back to Texas. So, in closing, it's good to be back in the states and I hope you and your families all have a great holiday. ^_^
